laughter is surely one of humanity's(人道, 人性) greatest gifts, for the ability to laugh--- to appreciate the pleasure or absurdity(荒谬) in daily activities---- allows people, young and old alike, to keep problems in perspective(洞察力). children are natural laughers. in situations, both appropriate(适当的) and inappropriate , the chuckles(咯咯地笑), giggles(傻笑), and outright peals(洪亮的) of laughter of children can emphasize their innocence(清白), their joyful ignorance(无知) of the problems of the world. levity(轻率) among adults is, unfortunately, far less common, but it is equally welcome. how fortunate are the adults who can react to potentially(潜在地) frustrating(使人沮丧的) situations--- a collapsed(倒塌的) tent(帐篷), a split(劈开) seam(缝) in a pair of pants(裤子), a surprise guest--- and see the sheer(全然的) absurdity(荒谬) of their attempts to maintain absolute control. laughter expresses pleasure, eases(缓和) tension, and lifts the spirit,. it is a gift we should all share more often.
